The 13th week of BHL games is halfway through. The games on Saturday were full of excitement and, perhaps, unexpected outcomes. Some clubs were able to prolong their winning streaks, while others were able to regain their winning ways after losses in previous rounds. The playoffs are everyone’s aim, and following today’s game, Estonia’s Viljandi HC made it. With today’s victory, they have booked their place in the play-offs. Another Estonian team, Polva Serviti, secured a place in the playoffs a little earlier. Four spots are still available.
SK Tapa – Põlva Serviti | 23:34 (15:14)
Ailar Puhasmets (Tapa):
In the first half-time, we managed to play well. Both the attack and the defence were good. In the second half, Servit’s defence got better and stronger, which destroyed our attack and they got easy goals because of it.
Ülljo Pihus (Polva):
Today’s game both halves were like night and day. In the first half, we struggled in defense and Tapa managed to use this to their advantage. We made some rushed decisions, and they had the opportunity to punish us for our mistakes. In the second half, we were able to make our defense tighter and stop them from scoring, which led to our fast breaks and our lead increasing rapidly. With a few players missing, I think we coped well.
SK Tapa – Oolup 5, Ageni 5, Berezhnyi 4.
Põlva Serviti – Rudissaar 6, Rebane 6, Sillaste 5.

Marko Koks (Viljandi):
We are still fighting for a place in the best two to get directly to the semi’s. It means that every point matters to us. Unfortunately, we are today missing five players because of COVID. But anyway, we wanted two points, and that’s important.

Granitas-Karys Kaunas – Varsa-Stronglasas Alytus | 31:29 (15:16)
Lukas Feoktistovas (Granitas):
The match went quite smoothly. We followed the match plan. Of course, we couldn’t completely avoid mistakes. At the end of the match, we didn’t have enough coolness, but we managed to find some extra strength and finish the match victorious.
Egidijus Petkevičius (Varsa):
Today, fatigue got in the way. Injuries and illnesses meant that we didn’t have an equal replacement for our key players, so both offense and defense were out of sync in the second half. Today, the opponent was stronger, and we congratulate the Kaunas team on their well-deserved victory.

ZRHK Tenax Dobele – HK Ogre/HYDROX | 38:40 (19:15)
Sandris Veršakovs (Dobele):
As we predicted, the game was difficult. It was an interesting game for spectators, with a lot of goals, but for me as a coach, it was a game without defense. Today we didn’t lose just 2 points, we lost 4 points as this game was also in the LAT championship. We will prepare for tomorrow’s game. With every loss, we step back, but our target is the BHL playoffs. Ogre was today’s best, but we have games to play and let’s see how this finishes in the next matches.
Mats Renfordt (Ogre):
For the game today, I think it was a great team effort where the whole team came together and fought as a unit. Even when we were down at halftime, there was a belief in the team that we would come back and win the game. We concentrated on defense and didn’t rush the ball on offense, and in this way, we managed to comeback to victory. After beating Dobele twice this season, we will also have an interesting Latvian championship this year. So far, we have played some of our best games against them.
