TOP MATCH
VHC Šviesa Vilnius – Polva Serviti 33:45 (19:21)
Šviesa – Urvikis 9, Plėta 7, Drabavičius 5.
Serviti – Sillaste 9, Timmo 7, Varul 6.
The highest scoring game of the weekend took place in Lithuania. 78 goals were scored in the match between the champions of Lithuania and Estonia. VHC Šviesa failed to take revenge against Polva Serviti for the defeat in the last season‘s semi-finals.
Kalmer Musting (coach, Polva Serviti):
A very high quality of handball was in the first half. Both teams played a very fast and modern handball. Teams used quick counter-attacks very well. In the second half, Šviesa did not maintain this pace. They started making more mistakes, and our team gained a lead.
Žygimantas Sinkevičius (coach, VHC Šviesa):
We played very bad in defense. Polva scored 45 goals. Maybe that‘s a BHL game scoring record. We made a lot of mistakes in the second half and our opponents scored easy goals. We broke down psychologically.
HC Amber Vilnius – Polva Serviti 28:36 (11:19)
Amber – Tsitko 10, Sedchenko 4.
Serviti – Sillaste 7, Uibo 6, Timmo 5.
Kalmer Musting (coach, Polva Serviti):
We analyzed Amber‘s team first two matches played in September. Amber‘s team game has really improved over the past month. We didn’t expect that. Maybe we relaxed too much in some moments. The most important thing is that we won 2 points.
Giedrius Sveklas (captain, Amber):
Everything was going well until we took our time and played our game. Then, we started to make a lot of mistakes, we lost a lot of balls, and in the first half we allowed our opponents to “run” away. The second half was better compared to the first, we tried, we fought, but unfortunately we were unable to return to the game. Obviously, we lack the experience of such a level of competition to be able to maintain our concentration for 60 minutes.
VHC Šviesa Vilnius – ZRHK TENAX Dobele 34:27 (18:17)
Šviesa – Rasakevičius 9, Drabavičius 7, Urvikis 6.
Dobele – Kurzemnieks, Juzups 5.
VHC Šviesa won the match between the Champions of Lithuania and Latvia. The match was equal and after the first half, the home team led with just one goal. Šviesa played better at the end of the match and won 2 points.
Tadas Rasakevičius (player, VHC Šviesa):
Victory was our goal. We knew we were going to play against a strong team. The match was tough. Both teams made a lot of mistakes. We made mistakes in defense and we got too many unnecessary two-minutes penalties. Our fans‘ support helped us to win.
Artūrs Kugis (goalkeeper, Dobele):
It is always difficult to play in Lithuania. We came to win. The start of the match was not good, we didn’t take good chances to score goals and made a lot of mistakes. But we returned to the game and we tied the score at the end of the first half. The start of the second half was not good for us and the opponents scored goals. We couldn’t catch them one more time.
HC Amber Vilnius – ZRHK TENAX Dobele 24:36 (11:18)
Amber – Ivanauskas 5, Stvolas, Piragis 4.
Dobele – Juzups, Kurzemnieks 7, Pančenko 6.
Sandris Veršakovs (coach, Dobele):
We played two different matches this weekend. In the match against Šviesa, we felt like we were after a long journey, we made a lot of mistakes, especially in the second half. Mistakes did not allow us to win. The match against Amber was different. We played well in defense, we were able to counter-attack and we scored easy goals. But the opponents didn’t let us relax even for a second. We are not completely satisfied with the trip to Lithuania, but we won 2 points.
SK Tapa/N.R Energy – HC Tallinn 33:23 (16:9)
Tapa – Berezhnyi 6, Jaanis 5.
Tallinn – Mado 5, Gumianov, Kutt 4.
The first derby of the season took place in Estonia. SK Tapa defeated HC Tallinn and stayed in the 2nd place in the group. HC Tallinn remains the only one not yet to win points in Group B.
Trivo Vaigurand (player, Tapa):
Todays game went pretty well although we made a few mistakes and had several 2 min suspensions. Despite that, we still managed to pull thruoght and win the game. I believe that the team is happy how the game went. We are looking forward to our next game.
The next round of the BHL will take place on 12–13 November.
