The Baltic Handball League continues to make great strides towards the end of the regular season. This time, there will be three mid-week matches. In two of them, we will travel to Lithuania. In the port city, the local Dragunas Klaipeda, who won the Lithuanian Handball Federation Cup this weekend, will meet their rivals from the capital.
The next meeting of the Lithuanian clubs will be a replay of the semi-final of the Lithuanian Handball Federation Cup. In last weekend’s semi-final of the Final Four, the handball players from the temporary capital were stronger. And last but not least, a game in Latvia, where HK Ogre will host SK Latgols. The latter team won its first points in the Baltic Handball League last weekend.
WEDNESDAY, 02 MARCH.
HC Dragunas Klaipeda – HC Vilnius | 19:00
Vaidas Drevinskas (HC Vilnius):
After the defeats, it is difficult to say whether we are ready for today’s game. Although we are physically well prepared, after a series of defeats, we have fallen into a psychological pit. The game against Dragunas will be in the middle of the week. It’s a long journey, and it could be difficult. But we will fight. We will try to do our best. This is our first season in the BHL, and I’m very happy with the overall result. If we make it to the top six, it will be above our capabilities and the team will be very happy.
VHC Šviesa Vilnius – Granitas-Karys Kaunas | 19:40
Raimondas Maldžius (coach, Šviesa):
Today is another important match. I hope that the team will be able to recover psychologically after the painful defeats at the weekend in the Cup semi-final. This game is not very important for us in the BHL standings, but in the Lithuanian league it will be a match for first place in the regular season. So it is very important.
Vaidotas Grosas (coach, Granitas):
Wednesday’s game is very important for us, both for our position in the Lithuanian table and in the Baltic League. It’s going to be a very tough game, and I hope the players will be able to recover from the cup weekend. I think we will not surprise each other anymore; we will have to fight from the first to the last minute. It’s going to be an interesting fight.
